NS Commanders past and present, along with their spouses, were honoured at the biennial Get Together for NS Commanders, which was held at the HomeTeamNS Bukit Batok clubhouse on 20 February.

The event, which promotes camaraderie and cohesion among NS Commanders, was attended by Guest of honour Minister K Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law, together with about 250 guests. These were comprised of NS Commanders, NS Pioneers and their spouses.

Addressing SCDF’s Key Appointment Holders, Minister Shanmugam shared key strategic developments and initiatives within SCDF. These included the transformation of the Rescue Battalions into Rescue Units and Medical Units, the increased leadership roles for SCDF NS Officers, and the upcoming enhancement of training facilities at the Civil Defence Academy.

He also thanked the NS Officers for their leadership and dedication, and recognised the invaluable support of their family members.

Minister Shanmugam then presented tokens of appreciation to the NS Officers who had served apex NS appointments, as well as those who contributed to the NS Feedback Panel and various working committees. After that, he went on to interact with the NS Commanders and their spouses over dinner.

Attendees were treated to carnival games at the clubhouse before the buffet dinner. Here, a photo booth was set up for the attendees, who got to bring home instant photo prints.
