I have received my Recognition Package with HomeTeamNS-PAssion Card. Why is the expiry date printed on the Card (31 Aug 2023) different from my HomeTeamNS Membership expiry date?


The expiry date printed (31 Aug 2023) on the HomeTeamNS-PAssion Card is the Card Expiry (PAssion card membership) and NOT your HomeTeamNS Membership expiry.

In conjunction with People Association’s initiative, all NSmen will receive a complimentary 5-year PAssion card membership.

My HomeTeamNS Membership expiry is more than 5 years, what would happen after the 5-year PAssion card membership (Card Expiry printed as 31 Aug 2023) expires?


A new HomeTeamNS-PAssion Card (with the new expiry date) will be sent to your mailing address.

Example: HomeTeamNS Membership expires on 31 Aug 2025 – you will receive the HomeTeamNS-PAssion Card (first card) which shows expiry date as 31 Aug 2023. A new (second card) card will be sent to your mailing address with expiry date 31 Aug 2025 once the first card expires.

I am holding on to the HomeTeamNS-PAssion Card, what would happen if my HomeTeamNS Membership expires before 31 Aug 2023?


Upon the expiry of your HomeTeamNS Membership, a new PAssion Card will be sent to your mailing address with the PAssion membership expiry date of 31 Aug 2023. Your existing HomeTeamNS-PAssion card will be deactivated.

Example: HomeTeamNS Membership expires on 31 Aug 2020 – you will receive the HomeTeamNS-PAssion Card (first card) which shows expiry date as 31 Aug 2023. A new PAssion Card (second card) will be sent to your mailing address with expiry date 31 Aug 2023 once your HomeTeamNS Membership expires.

How do I register to get my NS50 package?

You will need to register for your package via the following modes:-

  • Opt in for online via HomeTeamNS NS50 portal (ns50.hometeamns.sg) using your SingPass 2 FA
  • Complete the enclosed hardcopy Opt In Form and arrange to mail back via postage free reply service
  • Walk in at 5 HomeTeamNS Clubhouses at Bukit Batok, Balestier, Sembawang, Chinatown and Tampines

I did not receive the notification letter despite meeting the eligibility criteria. What do I do?

You can register for the package via the opting in online or walk in at any of the HomeTeamNS Clubhouses for assistance.

I am overseas now and can I register for my NS50 Recognition Package?

You can register for the NS50 Recognition Package via the opt in portal only. However, please note that the NS50 Recognition package will be mailed out to a local residential address via Singapore Post SmartPac Mini.

I did not know about the NS50 Recognition package until I heard about it from someone else. Why didn’t MINDEF inform me of my eligibility?

The notification letters were mailed out based on the residential address which servicemen have registered with MINDEF. You may have changed your address which resulted in you not receiving the notification letter.

I have completed and mailed out the hard copy opt in form. When can I receive my NS50 Recognition Package?

You will receive your package in approximately 4-8 weeks’ time once it has been successfully processed upon our receipt of your hardcopy Opt-in forms.  Hence, to expedite receiving your NS50 recognition benefits, NSman is advised to opt in online via the NS50 portal.

Do I get a membership card when I apply for the HomeTeamNS free membership?

Non-members will receive a new HomeTeamNS-PAssion membership card upon registering. Your NS50 Recognition Package (membership card and/or vouchers) will be sent to you via Singapore Post SmartPac Mini to your registered local mailing addresses.

Can I opt out to receive the free HomeTeamNS membership?

The NS50 Recognition Package consists of $100 worth of NS50 vouchers as well as 1 year complimentary HomeTeamNS membership. We trust that you will enjoy your membership with us.

Why can’t I log into the portal?

All Non- HomeTeamNS NSmen who are eligible for the NS50 Recognition Package will be able to login to the NS50 HomeTeamNS Web Portal (ns50.hometeamns.sg). Should you encounter any difficulties, please call the NS50 Contact Centre at 1800- 3505050 or email to ns50@hometeamns.sg

When is the last day to register for the NS50 recognition package?

The last day to register for the NS50 Recognition Package is on 30 June 2018.

After submission / confirmation via the portal, I realized that I have keyed in the wrong address / particulars, how do I amend it?

To ensure a smooth and error-free Opt-in to Delivery process of the NS50 packages, minimum human intervention is involved. Therefore, NSmen are reminded to check the accuracy of their mailing addresses and particulars before they submit. However, if you require to update your particular(s) after receiving your NS50 package, you can log in to HomeTeamNS membership portal: https://portal.hometeamns.sg/public/login to do so at your own convenience thereafter. Do contact our NS50 Contact Centre should you need further assistance.

Can I change my opt in option after I have submitted it?

No. Once you have submitted your preferred NS50 benefits option, you will not be allowed to make any changes.

I have accidentally clicked on the wrong opt in option and submitted it, how do I amend it?

Amendment will not be possible once you have submitted your preferred NS50 benefits.

I have logged in the Portal and realized that my name is incorrect as I had a change of name recently. What should I do?

Please call NS50 Contact Centre at 1800-3505050 to notify us immediately. If you recently had a change of name, do email us a copy of your deed poll to ns50@hometeamns.sg. You will be notified to opt in once the records have been updated accordingly.

When is the latest that I have to post out the hard copy opt in form?

NSman are advised to mail in hard copy forms by 30 May 2018, in order to receive their NS50 Recognition Package before the closing date of registration (i.e. on 30 June 2018)

I have mailed out the hard copy form and have not received any status update on my package.

Your NS50 package will be mailed to you within 4 – 8 weeks upon registration. You will receive an email notification once your opt in form have been successfully processed. Alternatively, you may contact HomeTeamNS NS Call Centre at 1800 – 3505050 for assistance.

Why does it take 4 - 8 weeks for the NS50 package to reach me?

We seek you understanding as due to the huge volume of applications, a longer processing time is required. Your NS50 Package will be delivered to you via SingPost SmartPac Mini.

Can I walk into the NS50 Contact Centre Office to register for my NS50 package?

Please walk-in to one of our Members’ Service Counters at any of our 5 HomeTeamNS clubhouses should you need any face-to-face assistance with your NS50 packages instead.

Can I start to enjoy the benefits of a HomeTeamNS member after I have registered for my NS50 Recognition Package?

Your HomeTeamNS-PAssion membership card will be mailed to your registered address in approximately 4-8 weeks’ time, together with your vouchers. In the meantime, you will receive an email notification to access your membership online account for booking of sports facilities and chalets. If you would like to patronize our other clubhouse facilities, e.g. swimming pool, please proceed to the clubhouse Members’ Services Counter to register.

Can I choose the name to be printed on my HomeTeamNS-PAssion membership card?

Your name printed on card will be as the records reflected on your NRIC.

  • SingPass

I do not have a SingPass account. How can I register?

You can register for a SingPass account via one of the following options:-

For local users:
(a) Click “Register Now” on the SingPass homepage. Upon successful registration, your SingPass password will be mailed to your registered address within four working days.

(b) To get your SingPass immediately, you may visit the nearest SingPass Counter with the necessary documents for verification and request to register a new SingPass account. Do note that register for a SingPass account is only once. All SingPass account requests are final and cannot be canceled or re-submitted. As your SingPass password will be mailed to your registered local address, please ensure that your address registered with the Government is up-to-date before proceeding.

I have set up my 2FA but have forgotten my SingPass password. How do I reset my account?

If you have set up your 2FA and have forgotten your SingPass password, you can reset it immediately online. Here is what you need to do:

  • Visit the SingPass website at www.singpass.gov.sg
  • Click “Reset Password” under the Services tab on the homepage
  • Enter your NRIC or FIN details, followed by your SMS or Token OTP
  • Create your new SingPass password, and you are done!

Where are the SingPass counter locations located?

I have not set up my SingPass 2FA. What can I do?

For NSmen who have not set up the 2FA, it till take 7 to 10 working days for setup before they can transact online. For more details, click HERE.

If NSmen needs assistance in setting 2FA if they can visit one of the following 1FA counters in-person. For NRIC holders, please bring along original NRIC card. These counters are subject to changes- please check regularly for updates

Who do I contact if I need clarification or queries about my SingPass account?

  • Deceased/ Overseas Servicemen

My son / father / husband who is an eligible NSman, has passed away. Can I as his parent / children / spouse redeem the vouchers on his behalf?

No. You are unable to redeem the HomeTeamNS vouchers on behalf of the serviceman. Original proof of identity is required when using the vouchers, which are unique to each individual.

My son / father / husband has passed away recently, why do he still receive the notification letter?

We apologise for sending out the letter. Please kindly ignore the letter.

My son / father / husband is currently working/staying overseas, can you mail the vouchers to him?

No. We are unable to send HomeTeamNS membership card / vouchers to an overseas address.

My son / father / husband is currently working/staying overseas, can I redeem the vouchers on his behalf?

No. Free membership and HomeTeamNS vouchers should be redeemed by our servicemen, so as not to dilute the original intent of this recognition measure. Original Proof of identity will need to be provided when using the vouchers, which are unique to each individual.

About NS50 Recognition Package

What is the NS50 Recognition Package?

To commemorate 50 years of National Service (NS50), the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will offer the NS50 Recognition Package to national servicemen to thank them for their contributions to defence.

The NS50 Recognition Package consists of $100 worth of NS50 vouchers for eligible past and present national servicemen, as well as one year complimentary SAFRA/HomeTeamNS membership for national servicemen who are serving or have served their Operationally Ready National Service (ORNS).

Eligibility

Who are eligible for the NS50 Recognition Package?

Eligibility for the NS50 Recognition Package will be based on national servicemen’s service status on 1 January 2017.

Eligibility Benefits
Full-time national servicemen (NSFs)

  • Existing NSFs
  • NSFs who enlist during the 2017 enlistment window (ending in mid-October 2017)
$100 worth of NS50 SAFRA or HomeTeamNS vouchers
Operationally Ready National Servicemen (NSmen)

  • Those who are serving or have served ORNS

I have served NS in both the SAF and SPF/SCDF. Can I select which NS association complimentary 1-year membership to receive?

Eligible national servicemen will receive the complimentary 1-year NS association membership based on their latest NS posting and these are non-exchangeable.

When will eligible national servicemen receive the NS50 Recognition Package?

More details will be provided in the coming months on when the NS50 Recognition Package will be administered.

Existing HomeTeamNS Members

To offer greater convenience for those who are existing HomeTeamNS members, their NS50 Recognition Package will be automatically mailed to their preferred local mailing address registered with HomeTeamNS. Existing HomeTeamNS members are reminded to update their preferred local mailing address in HomeTeamNS Online account by 28 February 2017.

Once administered, the 1-year complimentary HomeTeamNS membership will automatically be extended from their existing membership expiry date.

For HomeTeamNS-PAssion card members, you will be issued a new HomeTeamNS-Passion membership card. Your TapForMore points will automatically be transferred over to your new membership card. Please note that your existing card will be cancelled upon issuance of the new HomeTeamNS-Passion card.

For existing HomeTeamNS-PAssion-POSB Debit Card holders, the 1-year complimentary HomeTeamNS membership will automatically be extended accordingly. No new debit card will be issued to you.

SPF/SCDF Full-time National Servicemen (NSFs) who are Non-HomeTeamNS members

For NSFs who are not HomeTeamNS members, their NS50 Recognition Package will also automatically be mailed to their official address displayed on their NRICs. For those who enlist within the 2017 enlistment window, this will also be done only after their enlistment.

SPF/SCDF NSmen who are Non-HomeTeamNS Members

For those who are serving or have served ORNS, they will receive a notification letter with instructions on how to register for the NS50 Recognition Package through a dedicated online portal or by mailing in a duly completed form which will be included.

Once the registration process has been completed, they will receive the NS50 Recognition Package via mail within 4 to 8 weeks to their address provided at registration. The registration process will be open until 30 June 2018.

Why is there a need for the registration process for Home Team NSmen who are non-HomeTeamNS members?

The registration process ensures that eligible SPF/SCDF national servicemen confirm their preferred local mailing address and other pertinent details before the NS50 Recognition Package is mailed to them. This ensures that the benefits reach the intended recipient and are administered accurately.

Can I use an overseas address if I am not in Singapore?

The notification letter and NS50 Recognition Package will not be mailed to overseas addresses as the benefits are non-transferrable and its usage is limited within Singapore.

I will be going overseas soon. Can I get my notification letter or NS50 Recognition Package earlier?

Due to the sheer volume of eligible national servicemen who will be benefiting from this initiative, the administration of the NS50 Recognition Package will take some time and the delivery of the notification letters and benefits will be done in several batches from mid-2017 onwards.

Can I get the 1-year complimentary HomeTeamNS membership earlier since my existing membership is expiring in February / March 2017?

As part of the NS50 Recognition Package, the earliest validity date of the 1-year complimentary HomeTeamNS membership is tied to the start date of the initiative, which will be announced shortly.

Existing HomeTeamNS members whose memberships are expiring in 2017 may wish to wait for the package or extend their membership based on prevailing rates to continue to enjoy HomeTeamNS privileges in the interim. The 1-year complimentary HomeTeamNS membership will then be added on to any ongoing membership term.

Can I transfer my 1-year complimentary HomeTeamNS membership to my family member? Can I exchange it for cash?

The NS50 Recognition Package is non-transferrable and non-exchangeable for cash.

Can I get a refund for my existing HomeTeamNS membership since I am getting complimentary 1-year membership?

There will be no refund provided for existing HomeTeamNS membership. Once administered, the 1-year complimentary HomeTeamNS membership will be added on to any ongoing membership term.

Will my HomeTeamNS membership be automatically renewed after the expiry of the 1-year complimentary HomeTeamNS membership?

For new HomeTeamNS members who joined solely through the NS50 1-year complimentary HomeTeamNS membership and existing HomeTeamNS-PAssion card members, their HomeTeamNS membership will not be renewed automatically upon its expiry.  A renewal notice will be sent by HomeTeamNS accordingly.

For existing HomeTeamNS-PAssion-POSB Debit card members, their HomeTeamNS membership will be automatically renewed upon expiry in accordance to the Terms & Conditions which they agreed upon during sign-up.

Where can I use the NS50 vouchers?

The NS50 vouchers can be redeemed for additional years of membership at the respective NS associations and at more than 5,000 participating merchant outlets island-wide for a wide variety of goods and services.
