As part of the Association\u2019s efforts to encourage lifelong learning, the SUSS-HomeTeamNS sponsorship programme seeks to provide our members with the opportunity to pursue their studies. The scholarship has benefited 31 members over the last 10 years. <\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/h5>\n
With valid HomeTeamNS membership, selected recipients could have up to 80% of the total course fees covered!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong>Sponsorship value varies among individuals. <\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/h5>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”custom” accent_color=”#dd3333″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]28 year old HomeTeamNS Ordinary member Ahmadul Fatta Bin Mohamed Noor, currently a Flight Procedure Designer at Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), is one of the many SUSS-HomeTeamNS sponsorship recipients.<\/p>\n

With 5 years of work experience, Fatta decided to further his studies to advance in the aviation industry and he shares with us his educational journey at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS).[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”What is your course of study and how long have you been studying at SUSS?” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23dd3333″ google_fonts=”font_family:Amaranth%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_column_text]I am a first-year student in Bachelor of Engineering Aerospace Systems (BEng Aerospace Systems) programme. I\u2019m planning to graduate by 2022.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”What made you decide to further your studies? ” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23dd3333″ google_fonts=”font_family:Amaranth%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_column_text]I started my career in the aerospace industry in 2013 and I am currently a Flight Procedure Designer at Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). I hope to become an instructor at the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) for the Asia-Pacific region someday. If there\u2019s an opportunity, I would like to extend my expertise to other parts of the world.<\/p>\n

I felt that I had to upgrade myself in order to achieve my aspirations. Plus, SUSS\u2019 flexible learning approach is suitable for me as I\u2019m working full-time.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”How is studying at SUSS so far?” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23dd3333″ google_fonts=”font_family:Amaranth%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_column_text]So far, so good. As a part-time student, I am able to adequately balance between work, studies and family. For example, online collaboration allows me to attend lectures wherever I am, home or office. These lectures are also recorded and easily accessible at any time. Being able to plan our own timetable helps me better manage my time too!<\/p>\n

I gained relevant and necessary aerospace engineering knowledge through the classes and it has allowed me to better appreciate and understand my work. As a Flight Procedure Designer, I adhere to ICAO documents and manual when designing flight procedures. From one of the module I took – \u2018Introduction to Aerospace Engineering\u2019, I learnt about the calculation methods to derive certain requirements stated in ICAO documents. That was interesting to me.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”What is your greatest takeaway from the university?” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23dd3333″ google_fonts=”font_family:Amaranth%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_column_text]Time management, discipline and independent learning.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”How has the sponsorship contributed to your education journey at SUSS?” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23dd3333″ google_fonts=”font_family:Amaranth%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_column_text]I chanced upon the sponsorship program on my Facebook timeline when my friend shared it. The sponsorship has helped me a lot financially – it covers up to 80% of my school fees. I can use the money saved on my house renovation.<\/p>\n

It also motivates me to work harder at school to attain good grades so that I can continue with the sponsorship program.[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Is there anything you wish to share with your fellow Home Team NSmen?” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23dd3333″ google_fonts=”font_family:Amaranth%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_column_text]Never stop learning. I am grateful to be provided with this opportunity to advance my studies with the sponsorship programme defraying majority of the course fees.
