However, his approach to discovering the best dishes involves a bit more curiosity and exploration.<\/p><p>As a clinical researcher, the 28-year-old embraces a methodical approach to his culinary adventures. He also recommends Telegram channels like Level Ground and TasteSoul for the best deals \u2014 an endeavour he cheekily calls \u201ctypically Singaporean\u201d.<\/p><p>\u201cThese platforms help by highlighting newly opened restaurants and hidden gems among family-owned establishments,\u201d he notes. \u201cAfter all, Singaporeans are masters of word-of-mouth.\u201d<\/p><p>But for Shao Wei, the true treasure lies in connecting with the people behind the dishes. He relishes learning the stories of the eateries and their owners, adding: \u201cThese interactions are ones I hold deeply in my heart. What I love most about Singaporean cuisine is its diversity \u2014 a <em>rojak<\/em> where, amid the variety, you can still discern distinct flavours. On a rainy day, the peppery <em>bak kut teh<\/em> perfectly complements the prawn noodles with its moreish soup and tender meat.<\/p><p>For chicken rice enthusiasts, he recommends Tian Tian Chicken Rice at Clementi. \u201cTheir chicken is exceptionally tender, and the rice is fragrant. This flavourful meal is elevated when paired with the signature chicken wings. A tip from Shao Wei: \u201cYou can enjoy the <em>bee hoon<\/em> on its own or add the eatery\u2019s signature chili sauce. We often shared the <em>murtabak<\/em>, and the memories of our playful banter during those meals are particularly cherished,\u201d he says.<\/p><p>He also lauded how our vibrant Singapore food scene can unite people across culture and race. \u201cImagine having friends and family gathered around a table full of diverse dishes.
