‘Drive & Eat Durian’ at Tangkak (16 Sept 2017)

In conjunction with NS50 celebration and as part of AAIG membership promotion, we organized a ‘Drive & Eat Durian’ Trip to Tangkak on Saturday, 16 Sept 2017. The convoy of 9 cars with 31 enthusiastic participants began the Auto-Adventure durian trip at 7am from HomeTeamNS Bukit Batok Clubhouse and had Kolo Mee for breakfast at Restoran 777, Gelang Patah.

Once we arrived at the Tangkak Durian Hub 东甲金山榴莲山庄, we were given a guided tour of the durian plantation where all viewed the durian flowers (fruits blooming for the Dec season) and 3 durians left atop the durian tree.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever seen a durian flower… Beautiful!” shared Mr Augustus Tan.

The participants thoroughly enjoyed an hour feast of Organic Durians – both MaoShanWang (8kg) and Branded durians (10kg), plus fresh coconuts. Many also vacuum packed the durians home to share with their friends who were not at the hub.  It’s an interesting experience to eat these king of fruits with the local fruit-flies and it proved that there were no pesticides/chemicals used.

We then travelled to nearby Muar City Centre for lunch and also visited the famous Fan Xiang Muar Otah factory where participants bought the various types of Otah back home for their loved ones. A lucky draw was conducted as well before the convoy departed for Bukit Indah Aeon Shopping Mall.

We had dinner at the local Zichar Restoran Hook Sang 福生家鄉小厨 before proceeding back to Singapore.

It’s indeed a happy and rewarding Durian trip for all and we hope to have you join us in our next upcoming trip!
