History of CDANS & SPANS

CDANS and SPANS

In an effort to recognise the invaluable contributions made by Civil Defence and Police National Servicemen towards the security of our nation and to strengthen their sense of belonging to the two Home Team Forces, the Civil Defence Association for National Servicemen (CDANS) and Singapore Police Association for National Servicemen (SPANS) were established in 1992.

CDANS was formerly known as the Civil Defence Reservists’ Association (CDRA). A Town Clubhouse at Marina Square was temporarily set up in order to provide immediate benefits to CDANS members while awaiting the completion of a permanent Clubhouse. The Bukit Batok Clubhouse was officially opened in 1998 and is currently still operating simultaneously with two other Clubhouses at Chinatown and Sembawang.

SPANS had its first Town Clubhouse at Paragon. The Clubhouse moved to Orchard Building in 1998 before relocating to its present location at UE Square Shopping Mall in 2001. A new Clubhouse at Balestier opened its doors to SPANS members in the same year. Both Clubhouses are still in operation today.
